Prābhākara

Prābhākara is a prominent philosopher in Indian Vedanta, specifically within the non-dualistic branch known as Advaita Vedanta. He prioritized the study of Vedantic texts, especially the Upanishads, over other scriptures. Prābhākara emphasized that ultimate reality (Brahman) is real and perfect, distinct from individual souls and the material world. His approach is characterized by a careful interpretation of scriptural authority and logical reasoning, advocating that liberation (moksha) is achieved by understanding one's true nature as non-different from Brahman. His teachings significantly influenced later Vedantic thought, especially the Prābhākara school, which continues to be studied for its insights into metaphysics and epistemology.
