Pound-force

Pound-force (lbf) is a unit of force commonly used in the United States, especially in engineering and physics. It measures the amount of force required to accelerate a one-pound mass at a rate of 32.174 feet per second squared (standard gravity). Essentially, it quantifies how much push or pull is needed to move or hold an object with a mass of one pound. For example, if you apply a force of one pound-force to an object, you are exerting enough force to cause the object with a one-pound mass to accelerate at Earth's gravity.
