Posterior Capsule Opacification
Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) occurs when the thin membrane behind an artificial lens in the eye becomes cloudy after cataract surgery. This can happen even years after the procedure, leading to blurred vision similar to having a cataract. The condition is often treated with a quick, outpatient laser procedure called YAG laser capsulotomy, which clears the cloudiness and restores vision. PCO is common and treatable, allowing patients to regain clearer sight without extensive surgery.
