Porting Process
The porting process refers to transferring a service, such as a phone number, from one provider to another. This allows customers to switch carriers without losing their existing number. The process typically involves submitting a request to the new provider, which then communicates with the old provider to verify ownership of the number. Once confirmed, the number is "ported" over, usually within a few hours to a couple of days. This seamless transition enables consumers to enjoy better plans or services while retaining their familiar contact numbers.
