popcorn
Popcorn is a type of corn kernel with a hard outer shell and a small amount of moisture inside. When heated, the moisture turns to steam, creating internal pressure. Once this pressure exceeds the shell's strength, the kernel bursts open, turning inside out and becoming the fluffy, edible popcorn we enjoy. The high starch content cools quickly, forming the characteristic light, airy texture. This process happens at around 180°C (356°F) and is a natural form of popcorn popping, making it a popular snack due to its unique texture and flavor.
