Pompeian Law

Pompeian Law was a legal system used in ancient Pompeii, blending Roman legal principles with local customs. It focused on property rights, contracts, and civic obligations, ensuring social order and justice. The laws were often inscribed on monuments or stones, making them accessible to citizens. Despite being based on Roman law, Pompeian Law reflected local variations and practices unique to the region. After the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, many records of these laws helped modern scholars understand societal and legal structures of that time.
