Polish government's exile

The Polish government in exile was established during World War II after Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union in 1939. Unable to operate from their homeland, key Polish leaders and military officials retreated to London and other locations to continue their governance and advocate for Polish independence. They aimed to maintain international support for Poland and represent Polish interests, particularly at forums like the United Nations. The exile government persisted until the end of the war and the establishment of a communist government in Poland, which led to its eventual dissolution in 1990.
