plesiosaurs

Plesiosaurs were marine reptiles that lived during the age of dinosaurs, from the Late Triassic to the Late Cretaceous period. They had long necks, small heads, broad bodies, and flipper-like limbs adapted for swimming. Despite their reptilian appearance, they were fully aquatic and excellent swimmers, much like modern sea turtles or seals. Plesiosaurs varied in size, from about 10 centimeters to over 15 meters long. They were carnivorous, feeding on fish and small marine animals, and played an important role in prehistoric ocean ecosystems. Their fossils have been found in marine deposits worldwide, helping scientists understand ancient marine life.
