Platonism in mathematics is the philosophical view that mathematical truths are objective and exist independently of human minds. According to this perspective, mathematical concepts like numbers, sets, and shapes are real entities that mathematicians discover rather than invent. Just as physical objects exist in the world, abstract mathematical objects exist in a timeless realm. Platonists believe that statements such as "2 + 2 = 4" reflect these eternal truths.
