Plasmodium ovale

Plasmodium ovale is a parasite that causes malaria, a disease transmitted through the bite of infected Anopheles mosquitoes. Once inside the human body, it infects liver cells and red blood cells, leading to symptoms like fever, chills, fatigue, and sweating. P. ovale is less common and generally causes milder illness compared to other malaria parasites, but it can persist in the body and cause relapses months or years later. It’s mainly found in parts of West Africa and some other regions, and diagnosed through blood tests. Treatment involves antimalarial medications to eliminate the parasite.
