Plasmodium malariae

Plasmodium malariae is a parasite that causes malaria, a disease transmitted through the bites of infected Anopheles mosquitoes. Once inside the human body, it infects red blood cells, leading to symptoms like fever, chills, and sweating. Unlike some other malaria parasites, P. malariae typically causes a slower, more prolonged illness that can last for years if untreated. It is generally less severe but still requires medical treatment to prevent complications. Effective prevention includes mosquito control, bed nets, and antimalarial medications.
