Plasmodium life cycle
The Plasmodium life cycle involves both humans and mosquitoes. Infected mosquitoes bite humans, injecting parasites into the bloodstream. These parasites travel to the liver, mature, and then infect red blood cells, causing illnesses like malaria. Some develop into new forms that can be picked up by another mosquito when it bites. Inside the mosquito, the parasites mature further, and eventually, they migrate to the mosquito’s salivary glands. When this mosquito bites another person, it transmits the parasites, continuing the cycle. This complex process explains how malaria spreads between people and mosquitoes.
