plaque excision

Plaque excision is a medical procedure where a surgeon removes build-up of fats, cholesterol, and other substances—called plaque—from the inside of blood vessels, typically arteries. This build-up can narrow the vessels and reduce blood flow, increasing the risk of heart attack or stroke. During the procedure, a small incision is made, and a special tool is used to carefully cut away the plaque, restoring better blood flow. The goal is to improve circulation and reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems. It is often performed on arteries in the neck or heart, especially when other treatments may not be sufficient.
