Pinguecula

A pinguecula is a small, yellowish growth on the conjunctiva, the clear membrane covering the white part of the eye. It usually appears on the side of the eye closest to the nose and is common among people over 40, often due to sun exposure, dryness, or irritation. While pingueculae are generally harmless and painless, they may cause discomfort or change in appearance. Treatment is usually not necessary unless they cause irritation, in which case lubricating eye drops or minor procedures can help. Regular eye care and protection from UV light can help prevent them.
