Pierre Robin sequence

Pierre Robin sequence is a condition present at birth characterized by a smaller-than-normal lower jaw (micrognathia), a tongue that falls back in the throat (glossoptosis), and often a speech or feeding difficulty. The small jaw can block the airway and cause breathing problems, especially when lying on the back. It may also be associated with a cleft palate (an opening in the roof of the mouth). The exact cause isn’t always known, but it can occur alone or as part of other syndromes. Treatment focuses on securing the airway, improving feeding, and addressing any associated structural issues.
