Pierre Laporte
Pierre Laporte was a Canadian politician and lawyer who served as the Deputy Premier of Quebec. He was a member of the Quebec Liberal Party and also held the position of Minister of Labour. In 1970, during a period of political unrest known as the October Crisis, Laporte was kidnapped by the FLQ, a militant Quebec separatist group. Tragically, he was murdered by his captors. His kidnapping and death highlighted the tensions in Quebec during that time and had a lasting impact on Canadian political history.
