Pictorial cues
Pictorial cues are visual elements in images or artwork that help us perceive depth and spatial relationships. They include techniques such as perspective (how objects appear smaller as they get farther away), shading (light and shadow), relative size (larger objects seem closer), overlapping (objects in front seem nearer), and placement (objects higher or lower in an image). These cues mimic how we perceive the real world, allowing us to interpret a flat picture as having three-dimensional space. By understanding pictorial cues, viewers can better grasp the depth, distance, and arrangement of objects within an image.
