Pictish language
The Pictish language refers to the tongue spoken by the Picts, an ancient people who lived in what is now Scotland during early medieval times. While their exact language remains uncertain, it is believed to be a branch of the Brittonic or a related Celtic language, distinct from Old Gaelic. Most knowledge about Pictish comes from inscriptions and place names, which suggest it was a unique Celtic language or dialect used by the Picts before their assimilation into Gaelic or Scots cultures. Today, Pictish is considered a dead language with no living speakers.
