Phrase
A phrase is a group of words that work together but do not have both a subject and a verb, so it doesn't form a complete thought or sentence on its own. It functions as a part of a sentence, adding meaning or detail. For example, "under the table" or "running late" are phrases. Phrases can serve different roles, such as describing something (adjective phrase), indicating where or when something happens (prepositional phrase), or acting as a noun (noun phrase). They help make sentences more specific and expressive without being complete sentences themselves.
