Phospholipases

Phospholipases are enzymes that break down phospholipids, essential components of cell membranes. They cleave specific bonds within phospholipids, releasing fatty acids and other molecules that play key roles in cell signaling and inflammation. These enzymes are involved in various biological processes, including cell repair, communication, and immune responses. In some cases, phospholipases can contribute to disease processes, such as inflammation or infections, by disrupting cell membranes or producing active signaling molecules. They are important in both normal physiology and pathological conditions, and are often studied for their potential therapeutic targets.
