Philippics
Philippics are passionate speeches or writings that strongly criticize or attack someone, often a political leader. The term originates from speeches by Demosthenes in ancient Greece, condemning Philip of Macedon. Historically, they serve as powerful tools to oppose opponents, highlight injustices, or rally support. While they can be forceful and emotional, their purpose is to persuade audiences by exposing flaws or dangerous policies of the criticized party. Today, "Philippics" refers broadly to any vehement denunciations aimed at discouraging or confronting an individual or group.
