phagocytosis
Phagocytosis is a process where certain cells, like immune cells, "eat" or engulf harmful particles, bacteria, or debris to protect the body. The cell wraps around the target with its membrane, forming a pocket that encloses the object. This pocket then pinches off inside the cell, creating a compartment called a vesicle. The cell can then break down and destroy the captured material inside this vesicle. This process helps keep the body healthy by removing invaders and waste, playing a crucial role in the immune response.
