pH Monitoring
pH monitoring is a diagnostic test that measures the acidity or alkalinity inside your esophagus over a period, usually 24-48 hours. A small sensor, attached to a thin tube or a wireless device, is placed in your throat or stomach area. This sensor records when stomach acid refluxes back into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn. The test helps doctors diagnose conditions like acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and assess how well treatments are working. It provides real-time data on acid exposure, guiding effective management of your symptoms.
