PEX (cross-linked polyethylene)

PEX, or cross-linked polyethylene, is a flexible plastic piping material widely used in plumbing and heating systems. It's made by chemically linking polyethylene molecules, which enhances its strength, heat resistance, and durability. PEX pipes are resistant to scale and chlorine, making them suitable for both hot and cold water. They’re easy to install due to their flexibility, and they can bend around corners, reducing the need for many fittings. Additionally, PEX does not corrode like metal pipes and can expand to prevent bursting in freezing conditions, making it a popular choice for modern construction.
