Petersburg Soviet
The Petersburg Soviet was a workers’ council formed in Petrograd (formerly Petersburg) during the 1917 Russian Revolution. It served as a cooperative body representing factory workers, soldiers, and sailors, aiming to advocate for their interests and share power outside of the traditional government structures. The Soviet became a key force in the revolution, influencing political decisions and pushing for reforms. It symbolized the growing power of the working class and contributed to the overthrow of the provisional government, ultimately playing a central role in the rise of Bolshevik control and the establishment of Soviet governance.
