Peter Bartholomew

Peter Bartholomew was a 12th-century figure best known for his role during the First Crusade. He claimed to have found the Holy Lance, a relic believed to be the spear that pierced the side of Jesus during the Crucifixion. This discovery significantly boosted morale among the crusaders. Bartholomew's claims, however, were met with skepticism, leading to a trial by fire to prove his faith. He died in the 1098 Siege of Antioch, but his story reflects the fervent beliefs and intense struggles of the time, influencing both the crusaders' motivations and the perception of relics in the medieval period.
