Persian Constitutional Revolution
The Persian Constitutional Revolution (1905-1911) was a pivotal movement in Iran aimed at establishing a constitutional monarchy and limiting the power of the Shah. Inspired by democratic ideas and influenced by social changes, it began with widespread protests against autocratic rule, corruption, and foreign influence. Revolutionaries sought to create a parliament (Majles) where laws could be debated and passed democratically. Though the movement succeeded in establishing constitutional governance, it faced challenges from conservative forces and foreign powers, ultimately leading to political instability. This revolution laid the groundwork for future democratic movements in Iran and shaped its modern political landscape.
