Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation
Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation is a procedure used to treat certain blood disorders, such as leukemia or lymphoma, by replacing damaged or diseased blood cells. In this process, stem cells are collected from the bloodstream of a healthy donor or the patient themselves. After the patient undergoes intensive treatment to eliminate their unhealthy blood cells, these collected stem cells are infused back into their bloodstream. The transplanted stem cells then travel to the bone marrow, where they grow and produce new, healthy blood cells, helping the patient recover and rebuild their immune system.
