Perdiccas

Perdiccas was a prominent general and one of Alexander the Great's closest companions. After Alexander's death in 323 BCE, Perdiccas became the regent of the Macedonian Empire, overseeing its vast territories. His leadership was marked by efforts to unite Alexander's scattered empire, but he faced challenges from rival generals and internal divisions. Perdiccas attempted to extend control over various regions, including parts of Egypt and Persia, but his ambitions led to conflict. In 321 BCE, he was assassinated by his own troops, reflecting the turbulent power struggles of the time following Alexander's reign.
