People's Republic of Hungary

The People's Republic of Hungary was the official name of Hungary from 1949 to 1989, during which it was a communist state aligned with the Soviet Union. The government was controlled by the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party, and the country experienced centralized planning, state ownership of resources, and limited political freedoms. This period was marked by efforts to build a socialist society, industrialization, and occasional resistance movements, like the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. In 1989, Hungary transitioned to a democratic system, ending the People's Republic era, and embracing political pluralism, free elections, and market economy reforms.
