penile anatomy

The penis is a male reproductive organ made up of three main parts: two cylindrical chambers called corpora cavernosa and a third called the corpus spongiosum, which surrounds the urethra. During arousal, blood flows into the corpora cavernosa, causing the penis to become firm and erect. The urethra runs through the corpus spongiosum, allowing urination and semen passage. The penis is also composed of skin, nerves, blood vessels, and erectile tissue, all working together for sexual function and urination. It is supported by the root, shaft, and glans, which is the sensitive tip.
