Peirce's triadic model

Peirce's triadic model describes the process of meaning and communication through three interconnected elements: the *sign* (something that stands for another), the *object* (the thing the sign refers to), and the *interpretant* (the understanding or meaning generated in the mind of the observer). When we encounter a sign, it points us to an object, and our interpretation of the sign creates a mental understanding. This triad explains how signs work in language, symbols, and symbols in general, emphasizing that meaning arises from the relationship among these three components rather than from the sign alone.
