Pediatric Strabismus

Pediatric strabismus, also known as eye misalignment, is a condition where a child's eyes do not align properly when focusing on an object. One eye may look straight while the other turns inward, outward, upward, or downward. This misalignment can lead to problems with depth perception and can affect visual development, potentially resulting in amblyopia (lazy eye). Strabismus can be caused by muscle imbalances around the eyes or neurological issues. Treatment often involves corrective glasses, eye exercises, or surgery to help align the eyes and improve visual function. Early detection and intervention are important for optimal outcomes.
