Pediatric Leukemia
Pediatric leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow in children. It occurs when the body produces an excessive number of abnormal white blood cells, which disrupts normal blood function and increases the risk of infections, bleeding, and anemia. The most common types of pediatric leukemia are Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Treatment typically involves chemotherapy, and sometimes radiation or stem cell transplants. Early diagnosis and advances in treatment have significantly improved survival rates, making pediatric leukemia one of the more manageable childhood cancers when caught early.
