Peace of Brest-Litovsk

The Peace of Brest-Litovsk was a treaty signed in March 1918 between Soviet Russia and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire), marking Russia's exit from World War I. Russia ceded significant territories, including Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltics, to these nations. This agreement allowed the Bolshevik government to focus on consolidating power internally, but it also resulted in substantial territorial losses and was controversial. The treaty was later annulled when Germany lost the war, and Russia regained some of its territories.
