Peace and Security Council

The Peace and Security Council (PSC) is the main decision-making body of the African Union, responsible for promoting peace, preventing conflicts, and resolving crises across Africa. Comprising 15 member states elected for fixed terms, it meets regularly to assess security threats, authorize peacekeeping missions, and coordinate efforts among African countries and international partners. The PSC acts as a strategic forum to address regional stability, ensuring proactive responses to conflicts and fostering peaceful development on the continent. Its work helps maintain peace, support conflict resolution, and strengthen cooperation among African nations.
