The Pazzi Conspiracy was an attempt in 1478 by the Pazzi family and other nobles to overthrow the powerful Medici family in Florence, Italy. The plot involved assassinating Lorenzo de’ Medici and his brother Giuliano during a church service. The assassination of Giuliano succeeded, but Lorenzo survived and rallied support to crush the conspirators. The failed coup led to severe repercussions for the Pazzi family, which was severely punished, and strengthened the Medici's control over Florence, solidifying their dominance in Renaissance Italy. The event highlighted the intense power struggles of the time.
