Paul I of Russia (his father)
Paul I of Russia was the son of Empress Catherine the Great and became Emperor in 1796 after her death. Known for his unpredictable and strict nature, he implemented military reforms and sought to strengthen autocracy. His reign was marked by attempts to reverse some of his mother’s policies and a focus on discipline and order. Paul’s rule was short and turbulent; he was often suspicious of courtiers and nobles, leading to paranoia and political instability. He was ultimately assassinated in a palace coup, paving the way for his son, Alexander I, to inherit the throne.
