Patricia Hearst

Patricia Hearst is an American woman who became famous in the 1970s after being kidnapped by a leftist group called the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA). During her captivity, she was brainwashed and eventually joined her captors in criminal activities, including a bank robbery. Her case raised questions about identity, coercion, and the effects of trauma. Hearst was arrested, tried, and convicted but maintained that she had been coerced. In 2001, her sentence was commuted by President Bill Clinton. Today, Hearst is often discussed in relation to themes of victimhood and resilience.
