Patellofemoral Syndrome

Patellofemoral Syndrome, often called "runner’s knee," is a condition where the cartilage beneath the kneecap (patella) becomes irritated or worn down. This causes pain around or behind the kneecap, especially during activities like walking upstairs, squatting, or prolonged sitting. The syndrome can result from overuse, misalignment, muscle imbalances, or injury. It’s common in athletes and active individuals. Treatment typically involves rest, strengthening exercises, and proper activity modifications. In most cases, symptoms improve with conservative management, but addressing underlying causes is important to prevent recurrence.
