Particle embolization
Particle embolization is a medical procedure that intentionally blocks blood flow to a specific area of the body, often to treat tumors or abnormal blood vessels. Tiny particles, made of materials like polyvinyl alcohol or microspheres, are injected through a catheter into the blood vessels feeding the target tissue. These particles lodge in the vessels, reducing or stopping blood flow, which can shrink tumors or control bleeding. The procedure is minimally invasive, guided by imaging technology, and allows for targeted treatment with minimal impact on surrounding healthy tissue.
