PARP enzyme

PARP (Poly ADP-Ribose Polymerase) is an enzyme that plays a key role in repairing DNA damage within our cells. When DNA is broken or damaged, PARP detects these issues and helps initiate the repair process, maintaining cellular health. It acts by attaching small molecules called ADP-ribose units to proteins involved in repair, signaling the cell to fix the damage. PARP is especially important for cells with frequent DNA damage, like in cancer. PARP inhibitors are drugs designed to block this enzyme, preventing cancer cells from repairing their DNA, which can lead to their destruction.
