Parliament (various countries)

Parliament is a country's main legislative body responsible for making laws, debating policies, and overseeing the government. In many countries, it consists of elected representatives who represent the people's interests. For example, the UK has a Parliament with the House of Commons and House of Lords; Canada has a Parliament with the House of Commons and the Senate; and Australia’s Parliament includes the House of Representatives and the Senate. While structures vary, the core role remains: to discuss and pass legislation, hold the government accountable, and reflect the will of the citizens through their elected officials.
