Parliament (UK)
The UK Parliament is the main lawmaking body of the United Kingdom, responsible for making and passing laws, scrutinizing the government, and representing the public. It consists of two houses: the House of Commons, where Members of Parliament (MPs) are elected by citizens, and the House of Lords, made up of appointed and hereditary peers. Parliament debates policies, approves government spending, and checks the government's actions to ensure accountability. It operates within a constitutional framework where executive power (the government) is held accountable to Parliament and ultimately to the people.
