Paris Codex
The Paris Codex is an ancient handwritten manuscript created by the Maya civilization, dating back to around the 15th or early 16th century. It is one of the few surviving pre-Columbian books from Mesoamerica and contains complex hieroglyphic text, astronomical information, and ritual content. The codex provides valuable insights into Maya religion, cosmology, and science. Discovered in the 19th century, it is now housed in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris. As a vital archaeological artifact, the Paris Codex helps researchers understand the sophisticated nature of Maya written language and their cultural practices before European contact.
