Parcham vs. Khalq

The Parcham and Khalq were two factions of the Afghan People's Democratic Party (PDPA) in the 1960s and 1970s. Parcham, meaning "Flag," was more moderate, advocating for gradual reform and seeking to work within existing Afghan structures. Khalq, meaning "Masses," was more radical, pushing for rapid revolution and socialist policies. Tensions between them led to internal conflicts and power struggles, influencing Afghanistan's political turmoil. Ultimately, both factions contributed to the 1978 Saur Revolution, which overthrew the monarchy and led to decades of conflict and change in Afghanistan.
