Parachute

A parachute is a device designed to slow down the descent of a person or object through the air. It consists of a large, fabric canopy that opens up when released from a high altitude. As the parachute deploys, air fills the canopy, creating drag that counteracts gravity and reduces falling speed. This allows skydivers and airborne equipment to land safely on the ground. Parachutes are commonly used in recreational activities like skydiving, as well as in military operations and emergency situations, such as for safely landing astronauts or cargo.
