Panthera uncia

Panthera uncia, commonly known as the snow leopard, is a large wild cat native to mountainous regions of Central and South Asia. Recognized for its thick, smoky-gray fur with black rosettes and spots, it is well-adapted to cold, rugged environments at high altitudes. Snow leopards are solitary predators, primarily hunting mountain goats, sheep, and small mammals. They are elusive and rarely seen in the wild, making them vulnerable to habitat loss and poaching. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their populations, which are believed to be around 4,000 individuals globally.
