Pancha Rathas

The Pancha Rathas, located in Mahabalipuram, India, are a group of five monolithic rock-cut temples from the 7th century. Each temple is intricately carved and represents different architectural styles inspired by chariots (rathas). Named after the Pandava brothers from the Indian epic Mahabharata, the structures showcase remarkable artistry and craftsmanship. The Pancha Rathas are a UNESCO World Heritage site, reflecting the rich religious and cultural heritage of ancient South India. They are significant not only for their design but also for their role in early Dravidian temple architecture.
