Palace of Whitehall

The Palace of Whitehall was a significant royal residence in London, originally built in the 14th century as a monastic building. It became the primary palace for English monarchs from the Tudor period until the late 17th century. Known for its grandeur and elaborate gardens, the palace was notable for hosting important state events. However, much of it was destroyed by fire in 1698, leading to the construction of the nearby Banqueting House, which still stands today. The site symbolizes the historical evolution of British monarchy and governance.
